Above Jo Oakley records the beautiful 23rd Psalm, music by Howard Goodall

On the evenings of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (12th-14th July 2005) The brigade got together to make its 8th recording.  As yet unnamed, this CD has a new twist.

Above Jo, Simon, and the engineer (Matt Parkin) listen to a take.

As you may have seen on other parts of the news pages, about 3 or 4 times a year, the songsters enjoy a "sing and study" evening.  On these practice nights, a song is chosen and rehearsed.  The singers then break into small groups of around 8 songsters and spend some time studying the biblical significance of the song, before joining together to sing the piece again.

We thought it may be useful for others to enjoy this insight into our music, so each of the songs on the new recording will be accompanied by group bible study material written especially for the recording.  We hope, and fervently pray, that  you get as much from this material as we have.

Watch out for the release in the next few months!

Other songs on the recording include:
  • In His Presence
  • Christ Calls
  • Isaiah 40
  • If ... Then
  • God of My Praise

And many more!

Thanks once again to Matt Parkin for his expertise, and encouragement.

On the weekend of the 23rd and 24th of April 2005, we were once again on our travels.  This time to the corps at Bedford Congress Hall.  Following a warm welcome and tea, the brigade presented  a festival of music, supported by the corps band.  The programme was varied and fun, and was augmented by a visit from 3 "angels", who were planning a sortie against the eternal enemy.

The meetings on Sunday were led by Cadets Nick and Lisa Hanover.

Nick and Lisa entered the Salvation Army training college nearly 2 years ago, and are soon to be appointed to their first corps. If their leadership this weekend was anything to go by, their flock is in for a happy spirit-filled time.
